GPS packed up... TBH I don't think it's ever worked and, once discovered, it put me right off taking photos with it... If I can't geo-tag it, I don't want to share it.
Talk about behavioural change.
PS - Whatley on Wednesday is coming back this week. The N96 is getting a roasting.
@whatleydude: GPS packed up how? Just not seeing/responding to sats? I've had that for months on my N95-1 - still not found time for a factory reset and re-install...
@ocifant - No idea. I noticed that Geo Tags weren't appearing on ShoZu, then GMaps couldn't get a lock on (using GPS) and NokiaVine was giving me the 'NO GPS' error...
So I called Voda and they're sending me a new one.
Sounds like a similar problem. I don't have the contacts at T-Mob that you have at Voda :-( I may have to consider an N95-8gb as my contract is up now... Any other suggestions assuming there's still no date for the N85?
i think everyone is being a bit harsh on the poor N96. Everyone seems to have forgotten how buggy the N95-1 was upon it's release. Give it an update, I think the N96 will be a fine handset.
@danlane - it's certainly tempting to try. Can I get my SMS delivery notifications for the last few months too please, I haven't had a single one since I got put on this shitty network by my company.
@edc088 - that was my point, yes. And my network coverage is TERRIBLE since I got put on O2. On Orange and on Vodafone this same handset has 3.5G in every corner of my central London flat. On O2 it goes from 3G to Edge to GPRS and back as you walk through the flat. There are places in north London that I can't even get a connection to make a phone call on O2, let alone transfer data.
@edc088 I disagree, it appears O2 have never heard of Hertfordshire, or have simply forgotten to roll out any coverage there...
(ok, not the whole of Hertfordshire, but the eastern bits of the county that I visit / travel through, oh, and they appeared to have forgotten about the Hertford suburban railway line too)
In an un-published (it'll probably be published at some point) MIR Show feature Ben and myself are driving down embankment towards the houses of parliament while my iPhone proudly displays "No Service" and refuses to make a call.
@whatleydude: I want a new N95 8GB too, the GPS on mine has never 'worked' (I thought it not working was a feature of putting the antenna on the bottom under the keys!)
(1) The doctors think I may pull through.. a weaker (well, less well fed) man might not have made it. Thanks for asking ;-)
(2) Good. It's tut. We need to tell the world.

@ocifant - Not contacts mate. Customer Service.
"Hi, the GPS doesn't work. This should be covered under warranty. I'd like a replacement sent out immediately..."

I wonder if that will work with O2... "Hi O2, your network coverage is shit, please send a new one!"

When I get back from Whitby I'm going on an angry rampage against things that are half-assed and don't work as advertised.
1 year, 1 month ago by danlane
@dennymeta - o2 dont support sms delivery notifications. @dan - coverage is brilliant unless you use an iphone....

@munkimatt - if you get an N96, I'll kill you in your sleep after MGoL. It'll be a mercy killing.

'use an iPhone' - isn't that an oxymoron?
1 year, 1 month ago by whatleydude
@edc088 That's supposed to be acceptable? Coverage is excellent unless you use O2's FLAGSHIP handset?

@dan - course not but im saying its the handset not the network

('this same handset' being an N82, not an iPhone)

@bensmithuk blame your friend @whatleydude for hi-jacking the thread with his talk of a new N95-8GB
1 year, 1 month ago by ymb
@ymb it was a total thread hijack.

@munkimatt: Thanks - I'll just take your best wishes :-)
@ymb: This is, in my experience, the usual way of things... (!)
Thankyou all - I'll let you get back to @whatleydude's irrational fear of the 96 (although I do agree with him).
